These lipsticks were very popular a few of years ago as not many make up companies were producing liquid lipsticks and are still a favourite amongst make up lovers. I am a sucker for lipstick anyway but when it promises to be "long-lasting, full coverage and comfortable" I cannot resist!
Stila had a sale on their website just after Christmas where a lot of their make up sets were reduced to half price. This little set retails at £45 but I picked it up for £22.50 during the sale - and I am so glad I did. Not only are all the colours stunning but they are a pretty decent size for a "deluxe" sized product. I love sets like these because I can try out a variety of colours and buy the full size versions of the shades I like.
What drew me to this set were the two Shimmer Liquid Lipsticks. I love my matte lipsticks but equally love a shimmer finish too so I was intrigued to see how these would look as I don't own any shimmer lipsticks in the form of a liquid lipstick.
There are 8 lipsticks in total - 2 shimmer and 6 matte. The colours range from nude to deep plum so there's a great variety of shades.
The shades included, as per the Stila UK website are as follows:
- Patina Shimmer (dusty rose with shimmer)
- Beso Shimmer (true red with shimmer)
- Perla (pale dusty pink)
- Patina (dusty rose)
- Aria (magenta plum)
- Chianti (deep plum)
- Rubino (beet red)
- Sogno (warm rose)
The shimmer shades are new and were included as a sneak preview of the Spring 2018 collection which has launched on Stila UK today! Sogno is also a new shade in the matte collection.
The colours are all stunning and swatched really well. One swipe delivers opaque coverage and the colours really are creamy and so easy to apply.
Patina is a popular mauve-pink colour in the matte finish but I absolutely love the shimmer version too. This would look lovely with any make up look and the shimmer is subtle but still makes a statement.
Beso is a popular "true red" in the matte finish and the shimmer adds a touch of glam to an otherwise gorgeous colour. This screams "Christmas Party" to me so perhaps I can make use of this colour at Christmas time this year.
Perla and Patina are definitely the colours I would reach for on a daily basis. I love my pinks and mauves. Sogno is described by Stila as a "warm rose" but it definitely leans more beige than pink. I'm not sure if I would wear this colour as I think it would wash me out but perhaps paired with a warm, brown lip liner.
Aria is a stunning mauve/magenta colour for autumn/winter and would suit all skin tones.
Chianti is probably the colour I am least likely to wear - it's a very dark shade of plum which is definitely out of my comfort zone.
Rubino is a gorgeous wine shade that I would definitely wear for a more dramatic take on a red lip. It applies so well and is the perfect wine shade for all skin tones.
I'm really pleased with the quality of these lipsticks. They are long lasting, have amazing opacity and are not drying - these are enriched with Vitamin E which keeps lips moisturised. A great Christmas bargain and some beautiful colours to add to my collection. I can tell Perla, Beso Shimmer, Patina and Patina Shimmer are going to be firm favourites!
